My Parents
Jessica Astrof
Animal Rights Attorney

Jessica is an animal rights attorney in NY who I met at The National Animal Rights Conference, and has since become my friend. She has helped to ignite my passion for lobbying and has always been a tremendous support system to me in my efforts. She is a wonderful person with a big heart and her friendship is one that I will treasure always.

The Pollination Project awarded me my first grant and named me their 100th grantee. The grant I received  helped me to turn Lobby For Animals from an idea into a reality and I am eternally grateful for their help. I love their mission to bring about positive change through $1000 a day seed grants and I am proud to say that I am now a member of their grant advisory board for environmental and animal rights related grants and I am honored to have with the chance to help others see their dreams become a reality.

The Pollination Project

I just wanted to take a minute and thank those who have been a tremendous support system to me in my work.

My Parents have been there for me from the very beginning, even when they didn't quite get it. They sat through countless talks about being vegan and why I needed to speak out against what in my heart I felt was wrong. They supported me when I told them I wanted to protest at such a young age. They supported me through every school project that I decided to turn into an opportunity to speak on issues that were not always school friendly, and they supported me when I decided to lobby; they took me to each and every legislative meeting even gave up their dining room area to turn into a work area for me. I know a lot of kids who don't have that type of relationship with their parents and who don't get the encouragement needed to pursue their dreams, and I am grateful each and every day for the love and relationship I have with my Mom and Dad. I love them both very much and I hope to one day be just as good a parent to my own kids. Thank you Mom and Dad for everything.

Mr. Gary Smith

The Thinking Vegan

I met Mr. Smith when I was awarded the grant from the Pollination Project and I think I immediately knew we would be friends for life. After reading his articles I was so inspired by his straight forward ability to address so many of the issues that I felt so strongly about myself. His interview was one of my first interviews where I had a chance to truly express myself and my feelings. He took the time to get to know me and allowed me to speak about my point of view. He treated me as a colleague not just as a kid and I am very appreciative of that. Since that time we have grown to be great friends and he is someone I look up to and can always count on to be there for me. Thank you Mr. Smith for your friendship

In addition to the people mentioned here I am extremely thankful for all of the people who have contacted me through Facebook and through this site. Your encouraging words of support have truly meant a lot to me. There are also many people within the Animal Rights and Environmental community that have also been such an inspiration to me and whose dedication and committment to bringing about change makes me feel proud to be a part of such a movement. I have met so many wonderful people doing this work and I am thankful for the friendships we now share. I look forward to continuing to work with all of you towards making this world a healthier better place for all it's inhabitants.

Remember Don't just dream of change, Lobby for it!
